Top 10 Bitcoin Wallet Holders in 2022

We love a bit of whale watching and I don’t mean in the ocean, I mean the Bitcoin wallet holders who own vast sums of Bitcoin (BTC). Currently, there are 4 wallets with a balance of between 100,000 and 1,000,000 BTC, 79 wallets with a balance of between 10,000 and 100,000 BTC, 2,044 wallets with a balance of between 1,000 to 10,000 BTC, and 13,579 wallets with a balance of 100 to 1,000 BTC. 

Although many of these Bitcoin Billionaires remain anonymous, there are several public figures who we do know to be bullish on Bitcoin. Some have even made the Forbes rich list off the back of their investments in the crypto sphere. 

1. Satoshi Nakamoto

The creator of Bitcoin (BTC), is thought to own 1.1 million BTC across several different wallet addresses, although his/their actual identity is still unknown to this day. As of November 2021, this bag would put his net worth at $73 billion, making him the 15th richest person in the world. 

2. Sam Bankman-Fried

Although not specifically rich from his Bitcoin holdings, Sam, the founder of FTX is estimated to be worth $26.5 billion in 2022, by Forbes. 

3. Tyler and Cameron Winklevoss

The founders of the Gemini crypto exchange, and the NFT platform, Nifty Gateway, Tyler and Cameron are estimated to be worth a cool $5 billion each. The twins are said to have got big in crypto, by investing the millions they got off the back of their Facebook lawsuit, into crypto. 

4. Barry Silbert

Is the owner of Grayscale, the digital currency investment firm that bought out the Greyscale Bitcoin Trust, an ETF that tracks the price of Bitcoin, the Genesis trading platform, and CoinDesk, the cryptocurrency news site. Silbert is estimated to be worth $1.6 billion, by Forbes

5. Brian Armstrong

Is the co-founder of the American crypto exchange, Coinbase. Since Coinbase went public, Armstrong’s 19% stake in the crypto exchange has him estimated to be worth $10.4 billion, by Forbes. 

6. Michael Saylor

Possibly one of the most openly bullish personalities to have bought BTC. Saylor, CEO of the software company MicroStrategy started putting BTC onto its balance sheet in 2020, initially purchasing $250 million of the coin. Currently, they are said to own over 120,000 BTC, bought at an average price of just under $30k per coin, with a total value of over $3.5 billion. Saylor personally holds 17,732 BTC, bought at under $10k a coin, and is estimated to be worth $2.2 billion, by Forbes. 

7. Chanpeng “CZ” Zhao

Is the founder of Binance, the largest crypto exchange in the world, and home to BNB. CZ is estimated to be worth $1.9 billion, by Forbes. 

8. Elon Musk

Although nobody knows exactly how much crypto Musk holds outside of his Tesla BTC bag, of over 42,000 coins, the South African has publicly mentioned he has holdings including Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), and Doge Coin (DOGE). Musk is estimated to be worth over $300 billion, by Forbes. Although, it is unclear how much of this is in crypto.
